The Wallpaper by Miranda E. Martinez
“Adapted from The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Florence and her husband move to a quiet estate to cure her “illness of nervousness.” Things take a frightening turn when Florence becomes obsessed with the yellow wallpaper in her room, as well as the figure that starts appearing in its odd pattern.” The Yellow Wallpaper is Miranda’s first playwriting venture following college. ‘Wallpaper’ was written in 2020, with its reading happening via zoom later that year, produced by the Texas State Honors College Summer Reading Series. Prufrock Productions had the stage world premiere of this chilling play at the Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival in 2021.
Miranda is currently working on other plays at the moment and is hoping her their new work “The Laundromat Play” will be ready to for reading on New Play Exchange soon. Wallpaper is available on NPX.
